People who are responsible for providing the raws and scanning them for the group.
Requirements:
- Access to a manga bookstore in your vicinity or subscription to a monthly manga magazine.
- Scanner (ScanGear/VueScan program)
*Tell us your RAWs source (bookstore/manga magazine subscription) and the title of the manga(s) you would like to provide for us.
People who restate a particular foreign language into English.
Right now, we’re only accepting Japanese to English translators since all of our projects are in Japanese.
Update: We’re also accepting Chinese and Korean translators for future projects. We don’t have test for these two positions yet, so simply send us an e-mail either using the contact form below or at the address mentioned above.
Requirements:
- Translate all SFXs.
- Be fluent in English, as well as the language you’re translating from.
- Have either a MS Word software or a Notepad, or anything else that you’re comfortable with.
You will be reading through the translated script to make sure that the text flows smoothly and the sentences are structured properly.
Requirements:
- Colour your corrections in red.
- Correct spelling, grammar & punctuation mistakes.
- Have a good understanding of idioms.
- Make dialogues flow properly.
- Do not destroy the original meaning of the translation.
- Point out missing translations & SFXs.
People who prep the raws for typesetting. Fair knowledge in Photoshop is required for you shall be cleaning the scans of texts, and redrawing if within one’s capability. Otherwise we offer to educate you to the best of our ability.
Requirements:
- Photoshop.
- Can clean a chapter in 10 days.
- Cloning/Redrawing.
- Also, please make sure you save images as PSD. Don’t not merge the cleaned layers with the original RAWs’ layers. Keep them seperate.
People who type the translated texts onto the cleaned scans. Huge collection of fonts is required for you shall be needing them to deal with various SFXs. If not, go download lots.
Requirements:
- Photoshop/GIMP.
- Cool taste in fonts. (For SFXs especially)
- Can typeset a chapter in 7 days.
- All files must be saved in PSD format.
People who clean the raws and typeset the texts onto the scans. Your job is the combined work of cleaner and typesetter.
Requirements:
- Photoshop.
- Lots of time and dedication.
- Proper leveling and fair cloning/redrawing skills.
- Can edit a chapter in 14 days.
- All files must be saved in PSD format.
People who check a chapter prior to release. Job includes correcting Editing and Proofreading mistakes.
Requirements:
- Photoshop.
- Editing experience and English fluency.
- Superb error-detecting ability.
- Can QC a chapter in 3 days.
